Green and Swim
It all starts when I was six.
I read about the river
In grandpa’s town, QingShen, where the bamboos are delivered.
In the garden of my uncle’s house,
Where I sit on the swing,
Covered by greens,
Where I usually fall asleep.
The river was green.
I thought it was not deep.
I tried to catch a duck, there were fourteen.
I stepped forward, and….
Before I realized, I was dragged to the side
By my cousin who almost cried.
She was trembling, I wondered why.
I took a shower later that day,
Thinking about the river and her worried face.
I decide to learn how to swim.
Ash
Noun. Any genus of trees of the olive family
With pinnate leaves, thin furrowed bark
And gray branchlets.
Noun. the tough elastic wood of an ash.
Noun. Old English aese, name of the runic letter.
Noun. The abbreviation and nickname of a girl
In my friend’s fictional story.
In that world, flood, fire, and thunder destroyed old civilizations.
On the top of ashy ruins, a girl starts dancing.
A girl in red.
Her name is Aisling.
People also call her Ash.
Green Maple
I climbed the mountain once.
So high, to see maple trees,
But leaves were still green.
