Renée Murphy
Japanese and African American harpist Renée Murphy enjoys an artistic life of discovery, creativity, and performance. She is a rising third-year undergraduate student at The Juilliard School where she studies under Professor Nancy Allen, Principal Harpist of the New York Philharmonic. Renée is the recipient of a Kovner Fellowship at Juilliard.
Renée is the First Prize laureate of the 30th Nippon International Harp Competition and the Advanced Division of the American Harp Society’s 24th National Solo Competition. She was an invited guest soloist at the 60th Soka International Music Festival in Japan, the Focus on Youth International Concert Series of the 13th World Harp Congress in Hong Kong, and the Stars of Tomorrow International Concert Series of the 9th and 11th USA International Harp Competitions. Renée has been featured in Harp Column Magazine and the World Harp Congress Newsletter and has contributed to the Juilliard Journal. She enjoyed being a member of the Juilliard Student Leadership team during the 2021-22 academic year and is looking forward to joining Juilliard’s Campus Activities Board in fall 2022.
