Michael Chong

Washington, D.C. area violist Michael Chong enjoys a multifaceted career of orchestral, opera, and chamber playing. He has been a core member of the Mount Vernon Virtuosi, Signature Theatre, Arlington, the Maryland Lyric Opera, and the Alexandria Symphony Orchestra. Recent engagements include playing Solo Viola for Signature Theatre Arlington’s 2023 production of Stephen Sondheim’s Sweeney Todd and sitting Principal Viola for the 2022 Aspen Music Festival’s Baroque Orchestra. 

Michael is currently a first-year master’s student in Orchestral Performance at the Tianjin Juilliard School, studying with Honggang Li and Hanna Lee. His past teachers include Victoria Chiang, Daniel Foster, Katherine Murdock, Rebecca Albers, and Lawrence Dutton.
