Liam Cummins

Liam Cummins (b. 2004) composes music that nods to the past and dives into the future. His wide-ranging works include a string quartet honoring child Holocaust victims, a 40-minute tone poem for orchestra grappling with the global pandemic, a piano quartet highlighting the accelerating effects of climate change, and a fanfare using only household objects as instruments.

Liam's music has been praised for its nuanced craft, inventive orchestration and broad emotional range. His music has been recognized by organizations including the National Foundation for the Advancement of Artists YoungArts program, ASCAP, The American Academy of Arts and Letters, Orchestra of St. Lukes, American Composers Orchestra, New York Youth Symphony, Tribeca New Music and The American Prize. An enthusiastic advocate of concert music, Liam strives to make the art form accessible and impactful for as many people as possible – especially for those not frequently exposed to it.

Liam's passion for composition is informed by a wide range of other musical and non-musical interests: He is a pianist, a passionate keyboard improviser, a creative writer, an avid backpacker and outdoors enthusiast, and a photographer specializing in wildlife photography.
