Jiahao Han
Pianist Jiahao Han is the recipient of Kayserburg Youth Pianist, now a third-year undergraduate student studying with his mentors Hung-Kuan Chen and Tema Blackstone at The Juilliard School. Born in November 2000, Jiahao gave his recital debut in Puigcerdà in 2011, and his concerto debut with Shanghai Philharmonic Orchestra in 2010. Jiahao became the scholarship recipient of Artemisia Foundation in 2022, participating actively in its mentoring program. In the same year, he received a full fellowship for the Aspen Music Festival.
Jiahao was the third prize winner of the “Jinji Lake” International Piano competition, and the third prize winner of the “Jenuesses International Music Competition Dinu Lipatti”. In 2021, Jiahao was rewarded the Audience Prize for the online first round in International Beethoven Piano Competition Vienna. As an alumnus of Morningside Music Bridge (MMB), Jiahao was admitted to this highly selective summer music festival with full fellowships in 2017, 2018, and 2019. He received the Mazurka Prize in MMB 2018 in Warsaw, and was invited to the gala concerts of MMB in 2018 & 2019, performing respectively in the concert hall of Chopin University of Music, and at Jordan Hall in Boston. His recordings made in MMB, featuring Chopin’s Mazurkas Op. 24, Kapustin’s Sonata No. 2, and Stravinsky’s Petrouchka, has been released as part of the annual MMB Album.
As a soloist, Jiahao has made appearances with Suzhou Symphony Orchestra under the conductor of XU Zhong (Director of Shanghai Opera House), Shanghai Philharmonic Orchestra and Tianjin Symphony Orchestra under the conductor of Muhai Tang, etc. During pandemic, Jiahao has given 2 solo recitals within three months at Juilliard, and over 4 chamber music concerts at both Juilliard and Tianjin Juilliard after 2021. Guest Artist appearances have included concerts at venues such as Xinghai Concert Hall and Kayserburg Concert Hall in Guangzhou, Shanghai Symphony Hall, Shanghai Oriental Art Center, Opera House of Central Conservatory of Music in Beijing, Gansu Grand Theater, Anhui Grand Theater, as well as dozens of additional venues across China.
Encompassing artistic integrity, Jiahao devotes himself constantly in new music and chamber works, and has participated many times in New Juilliard Ensemble and Focus Festival at Juilliard. Jiahao was selected along with his piano quartet group to perform at the Metropolitan Museum as a part of the ChamberFest project in 2022. Jiahao has been appointed as a teaching fellow for Ear Training Department at Juilliard since August 2021, and for Theory Department since January 2022.
