Fangzhen Wang
Fangzhen Wang is a 19-year-old Mezzo-soprano born in GuangDong, China. She is a Second-Year Undergraduate Vocal Arts student at The Juilliard School studying with Cynthia Hoffmann. Fangzhen won 1st Place at the 2022 National Association of Teachers of Singing (NATS) and 2021 Classical Singer (CS Music) Fall Competition in both the Judges’ Round and Audience Choice Round. Fangzhen is also the First Prize Winner of the 2022 Golden Classical Music Awards International Competition and 2022 American Protégé International Music Vocal Competition, and was invited for both of the Winner’s Concerts at Weill Recital Hall at Carnegie Hall in December 2022. Fangzhen has sung on the China Central Television (CCTV) many times since 2016. She attended the 2021 Washington National Opera Institute and 2021 Boston University Tanglewood Institute. Fangzhen graduated with the Highest Honors from The Walnut Hill School for the Arts. This season at Juilliard, Fangzhen will perform excerpts from Mahler’s Des Knaben Wunderhorn in Paul Hall, and participate in The Juilliard Opera La Clemenza di Tito by Mozart in April 2024. She participated in The Juilliard Opera Suor Angelica by Puccini in 2023, has sung The Second Lady and covered Dido in Dido and Aeneas by Purcell in 2022 Walnut Hill Opera, and played Lamplighter and Rose Garden in The 2021 Walnut Hill Opera The Little Prince by Rachel Portman, which won the 2nd Place in the 2021 National Opera Association Opera Production Competition.
