Anne Qian Wang

Anne Qian Wang hails from Sydney, Australia, and is currently a fourth-year undergraduate student of Robert Beaser. Initially a pianist, she quickly developed an interest in writing music and was primarily self-taught. After placing second in the Australian Music 2 HSC with nominations for Encore, she briefly attended the Sydney Conservatorium of Music in 2012, under the tutelage of Matthew Hindson, and Damien Ricketson. During this time, her piano duet Mercurial Dance was premiered at Steinway & Sons’ Take Five in the lead-up to the Sydney International Piano Competition. In April 2016, her work Quartered was premiered at Lincoln Center’s Alice Tully Hall by mezzo-soprano Amanda Lynn Bottoms and the Juilliard Orchestra, conducted by Maestro Jeffrey Milarsky. Her past summers have been spent at the Atlantic Music Festival, directed by Robert Paterson, and with the European American Music Alliance at Philip Lasser’s program in Paris, studying with David Conte.
